Recorded c. summer 1971
Contributed by Azule Serape, who writes:-
A fine and rarely seen 1971 album from guitarist Frank Evans in a trio format.
Frank was generally disillusioned by the music scene in the UK and went on to form his own Bristol based record label - 'Blue Bag'- in the mid 1970s which allowed him to control the music he wished to record and how it was marketed.
He recorded only a handful of jazz dates, and indeed little other music, which is a pity. The music here is adventurous in some places and quite 'free' in others but immensely enjoyable.
There were not all that many guitarists playing in the modern idiom in the UK during the 1950s-1970s period and few had the opportunity to record the music they preferred. Over the coming months BritJazz will be bringing you some examples of the best of these.

Thanks azule serape and Rodney. Not exactly a flood but these Frank Evans LPs that have resurfaced are a real treat.
ReplyDeleteThanks Rodney and Azule Serape! Cheers!
ReplyDeleteAnother Frank Evans most welcome. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThank You for this rare disc of this great guitarist.
ReplyDeleteI've really enjoyed these Frank Evans records that have been surfacing on various blogs - many thanks for this addition.
ReplyDeleteTrying to download this, I'm getting "Non Trouvé (NOT FOUND) La ressource demandée n'a pu être trouvée sur ce serveur." on 1fichier. I don't normally have any problems, is something wrong?
ReplyDeleteI'm getting the same, bventure. Will re-upload and post a new link.
DeleteNew link now on first comment, bventure.
DeleteThanks for the new link, but I'm getting the same problem as with the previous one.Very odd, not had this sort of problem before. Any chance of uploding it somewhere else, maybe gamefront?
Delete****! Not feeling adventurous :-) and gamefront not familiar to me. Mbf link should be with you soon, bv. Second 1f link works ok here this time.
Deletembf link worked OK, thanks very much. I use gamefront as it is undemanding & one of the few that doesn't give nasty popups when used in a browser - downside is it doesn't work in some countries apparently. I normally use jdownloader, so only ever download via a browser when all else fails, especially as zippyshare brings up some very nasty popups from time to time.
DeleteLove, love, love her. Thank you!
