  6. Great to have you visit, Susan. We weren't sure if your dad was still alive but you use the past tense so suppose not unfortunately. We would be very interested to know if you can tell us any more about him. It appears he went to the USA 1957, settling in Florida in 1993 where he was playing regularly at least until 1997.

Keep an eye on the blog as, in his honour and as a result of your visit, we are planning a special item dedicated to him.

    Good luck with your search.

  7. Hi BritJazz, just saw your post. Thanks so much. He passed away from cancer, very quickly, in November of 2002. From the time he moved to Naples, FL until his death his career had a resurgence of sorts. He hooked into a very nice group of musicians and was booked steadily doing very nice high-class engagements. It was a good time for him, musically. Thanks to the efforts of your blog and a few other sites I have found (I never googled him as "Johnny", only as "John"), I discovered his playing on several Joe Harriott releases, as well as the one you've mentioned here. It's quite a shame he never knew of these, as I believe he'd get a charge out of them.

  9. The Rapidahre link seems to be dead.
Look forward to seeing this Lp available again soon.

    1. Hello Eddie - that one is on the list to be renewed today - see progress on post "All Hands" at the top of the blog. Quite a few others are missing probably but all are being renewed in a rolling programme. Up to 0079 so far.
