0024 Tommy Whittle [More Waxing with Whittle] FLAC 13(1.00.00)

Contributed by delmonico, who writes:-
Here are further recordings of Whittle's Quintet from 1954/55. Pianist Dill Jones and baritone saxophonist Harry Klein are present on all tracks and it is good to hear Klein stretch out in a smaller group. At the time Klein and Ronnie Ross (both very different in approach and sound) were the main UK exponents of the baritone. Klein, the older man, started his recording career in 1949 whilst Ross came along 5 years later and challenged him successfully for the top spot in later years.
Klein had a long and varied career working latterly as a freelance session musician,  on cruise ships and as a tv actor. He was still active in the 2000s playing mainly alto sax.
Tommy Whittle, of course, continues to play and is one of our finest living (and perhaps under appreciated) musicians.
Ripped in FLAC from re-issue lp with cover scans. The tracks originally appeared on a 10" lp Esq 20-048, 'The Tommy Whittle Quintet', ep 67 on Esquire and 3 x 78 rpm singles.
This is the ep sleeve.  No lp available.
