many thanks bluebird. one just brought 684 quid. this is stereo ! have found no stereo catalogue number. the Acrobat issue is mono.
ReplyDeleteThis is taken from the limited edition Japanese cd re-issue where the original Master tapes were used under licence.
DeleteAcrobat has plenty of 'previous' in the sound department and is best avoided if possible. Some of their 're-issues' are from mp3 files.
thanks bluebird, yes acrobat indeed to be avoided.could not find that was ever original stereo issue of this on 77. was there ? the artwork shows mono issue. stereo would have been SEU 12/8. but big claps to Doug Dobell and, surprisingly in this context, Barry Martyn. 77 now part of the Buck stable labels.
DeleteDon't know about the mono/stereo issue on 77 and no mention of either on the cd artwork or the Japanese obi strip.
DeleteThe Jazzhus label is well worth checking out and there are two more Dick Morrissey Quartet issues from this label in the pipeline('Live Storm Warning -Manchester 1966' and 'The Lost 77 Recordings-1965/66')
A minor correction about the label Jazzhus Disk - it's not from Japan but from Taiwan.
DeleteThe label owner Chih-Yu Chen lived several years in New York (hence the Brooklyn address on the covers).
See http://www.nycjazzrecord.com/issues/tnycjr201301.pdf (page 12 + 41) for an interview with him.
Thanks Rodney and bluebird! Cheers!
ReplyDeleteNever knew this album ever had a CD reissue. Many thanks, bluebird and Rodney.
