0270 John Dankworth [Dankworth Plays Dankworth] FLAC 10(42.21)

Contributed by bluebird, who writes:-
One of Dankworth's great bands from around the  Newport Jazz Festival period playing the compositions of the leader. Personnel and dates are 'best guesses' based on the musicians heard in solo.
John Dankworth described his own playing as 'Couth, Kempt and Shevelled' which I think is a lovely description - very modest but very true.

  1. I love listening to music shared by people who can say "personnel and dates are 'best guesses' based on the musicians heard in solo". Thank you again.

  2. Many thanks. Never seen this one before. 'Couth, Kempt and Shevelled' sounds like a great title for a biography.

  4. Good set - thank you! I have a bit of thing against Dankworth because of Cleo Laine (well, virtually *any* jazz singer really)so its good to be reminded that his purely instrumental work is very entertaining.
