    I think this might well be the only recording with Dick as leader. He was with the Ronnie Scott Quintet for many years and even with that group only one recording was made.
    A very neglected player and well worth a listen.

  3. Yes bluebird - sadly neglected. I'm passing another CD to Rodney this week - the Pete Downes Trio (PD3) with Dick Pearce, recorded in 2006 at Pizza Express and also no longer available. It's even better than this offering. His autobiography "Dizzy Gillespie Was At My Wedding" is one of the best jazz books I've read, very funny and self-effacing. You really get the impression that he doesn't realise just how good he is. I've seen him play just once with local musicians at the Western Hotel in St. Ives a few years ago while on holiday - very much an evening of tunes we associate with Chet Baker as I recall. I've been hunting down records by him ever since.
