Thanks bluebird...one DJ worth listening to! Happy New Year and Big Thanks to BritJazz and all contributors.
ReplyDeleteNow that's a *great* start to the new year! I absolutely love this blog, it exposes me to so much good stuff I might have overlooked in the usual course of things. I genuinely regret I have nothing to contribute, but I most definately am an appreciative audience.
ReplyDeleteHappy new Year to everyone involved.

Interesting that this album came out on an EMI label. From the typography of the sleeve to the personnel, this is very much like one of the Pye Nixa Jazz Today records of the period
ReplyDeleteHi ALANG, Spot on with your comment there. Denis Preston who supervised these dates had a deal with Pye to issue his recordings on their Jazz Today series. When the deal with Pye ended he made another with EMI's Columbia label and they began their Lansdown Jazz Series. Same producers/engineers/cover design etc.
DeleteThanks for the Dill Jones BritJazz - Happy New Year to you and your contributors.

Thank You and Happy New Year.

Hi,
ReplyDeleteI’m from Brazil and just can’t believe in such a wonderful blog!
Since last month I’ve been here downloading this magic albums. It’s a huge work, but I’m loving it.
I’d like to thank you. I think someone who works so hard sharing this kind of things must be a special person.
Sorry about my English.
Paulinho.
@paulinho. Not so large compared with many blogs but that only reflects our posting policy after all. We do spread the load. Thanks a lot for your encouraging words - always welcome. Bom dia!
ReplyDeleteApart from Dill himself and Keith Christie the rest of the band is a most unlikely group of musicians to be playing dixieland jazz. But I'll listen to it with interest hoping to be pleasantly surprised. Thank you bluebird.
ReplyDeleteVic Ash used to do a TWW TV show every week with this band circa 1961-2. Their guest vocalist was Matt Monro!
ReplyDeleteAlso, they only gigged in London once - at the Flamingo.
