Still the cheapest (and quickest) way of getting around London. More likely to get your bike nicked now though! Cheers Brufan...Great!
ReplyDeleteYes, thank you, this was one of the discs that started the whole business off! "Our Kind of Jazz" and the Beaulieu recordings are supposed to be "better", but this was the original. Someone wrote a while back that the Heath band, on a good night, was up there with the contemporary Kenton and Herman outfits. Quite right, thanks again.
ReplyDeleteAnother prejudice bites the dust . . . super record. Many thanks.
ReplyDeleteThis was probably the first album of any kind I ever owned. I still love it today. The Heath band re-recorded this at Kingsway Hall in 1958 in stereo and I like it even more than this one.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful piece Eloquence is.
ReplyDeleteA gorgeous theme, enriched by a provocativer arrangement and a competent solo of this inspired Roy Willox on the alto.
I want to hear more from him! I'll look for another recordings in here, thank you.
Pleased to meet such talented sax virtuose together with Keating.
