Thank you sooooooooooooooooo much!
ReplyDeletej.
I mention her in my comments on the last post and hey presto, she turns up! Feldman & Jones also. Excellent delmonico...thank you.
ReplyDeleteThanks Delmonico & BJ ... not usually my cuppa ... but these EP posts are great ... Baron
ReplyDeleteElaine Delmar should be declared a national treasure! She is surely one of the best singers to emanate from the UK yet I hadn't heard of her until a researcher from Portugal enquired at BritJazz about the British pianist Colin Beaton, and bluebird mentioned the two Elaine Delmar albums on which he played. Since then I have been exploring her work from the past half century and been constantly delighted.
ReplyDeleteShe always sounds at her best with jazz musicians and it's difficult to believe that these were her first such recordings. Absolutely wonderful! Incidentally was Victor on a visit back home? What a bonus!
Many thanks delmonico.
HI
ReplyDeleteI am having problems downloading this. I have tried three different sites. All starts well gets to about 5 MB then just fades away finally popping up a notice "unable to download this file"! I am on broadband.
I've not had trouble with any other downloads.
Any ideas?
Hi Anonymous
ReplyDeleteWhich host are you using of the four available from MultiUpload? All of them? If not, suggest you try another. I am trying them all now, using the free services. MegaUpload had the best download rate and has completed. The others going much slower but does not appear to be a problem.
Could be some temporary problem where you are - suggest you leave it for a while and try later, preferably at a quiet time (i.e. when the USA is asleep).
If still no luck, post another comment here and I'm sure we can sort something out.
I tried all four hosts at various times over the last three days. Most fade into "1 connexion" then message "unable to download". I did actually reach 16.9 MB late last night. After over 30 attempts, I guess I have to accept defeat!
ReplyDeleteUnless, of course, you have a solution.
Anyway, thanks for some great music on Britjazz
Sorry about the trouble you are having, anonymous. The links have been fully tested from two locations and proved okay. The trouble must be at your end somehow.
ReplyDeletePerhaps it is with the MultiUpload arrangement. The file (60.06MB) has been uploaded to http://mbf.me/GYvb (MailBigFile) so please give that a try.
Let us know how you get on in any event.
Please forgive my ignorance, but I had never heard of Elaine Delmar before now. I am normally to be found skulking around the Steve Lacy / Derek Bailey / Cecil Taylor end of Jazz Blogs, so to find myself enjoying this quite so much came as a bit of a surprise. Many, many thanks.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad we have got to 1960's now because one of my favourites from the sixty's has surfaced, it was Dill Jones that was one of the influences that steered me away (just a little) from the TRAD path I had up to then followed.
ReplyDeleteTo see the excellent EP with Elaine Delmar was a thrill indeed
Thanks Delmonico.
thanks for this new (for me) singer!
ReplyDeleteich schaue und schaue aber ich finde den link nicht, schaue ich falsch? gruss
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot Sir! Do you know the title of the album where appears the song "Creepin' up on you"? I've heard it in the great compilaton "Mood Mosaic" but can't find the EP.
ReplyDeleteAn LP is for sale on eBay now called "Sneakin' Up On You" but the price is £50 - that's only the first Google hit though. 1968 so well outside our scope. CBS 63511.
DeleteSneakin' Up On You has been reissued on vocalion CD SML 8437.
DeleteThanks, grumpy - I stand corrected.
DeleteThank you so much for the work you do to share music
