0111 Ronnie Scott [Ronnie Scott Quintet] FLAC 2(12.43)
Contributed by delmonico, who writes:-
A couple of longish tracks from a Ronnie Scott 1955 Quintet with Hank Shaw wearing his Sunday best name of Henry. No sleeve notes on the back but a useful Ronnie Scott Esquire discography. Those Esquire front cover designs still feel fresh and modern. Collectors items in their own right.
Ripped in FLAC from ep with front and back cover scans.
Hank Shaw - trumpet
Ronnie Scott - tenor
Victor Feldman - piano
Sammy Stokes - bass
Phil Seamen - drums

Thank you very much, I don't think this has ever been reissued so it's very welcome.
ReplyDeleteLovely stuff. Many thanks.
ReplyDeleteThanks BJz ... always liked Split Kick since hearing Brownie play it - reminds of the TV Star Trek Theme.

RONNIE SCOTT QUINTET - SPLIT KICK / IT DON'T MEAN A THING
ReplyDeleteExcellent stuff - many thanks! Ronnie Scott recorded numerous 78s and 45s in the early to mid 50s, and I would very much like to hear more of it!
Wonder what happened to the master tapes for the Esquire portfolio.
ReplyDeleteEsquire was a one man outfit run by Carlo Krahmer from his flat in Bedford Court Mansions, round the corner from Tottenhsm Court Road. He's done some soundproofing to the flat, but eventually his landlords found out that he was running a business from the residential premises and demanded a business rent.
Thnx BJ.
ReplyDeleteThe comment about Brownie sent me back to see who else had done Split Kick. I was surprised to find Getz, Paul Bley, Rene Urtreger, Cedar Walton and a few others.
More good Feldman, thanks
ReplyDeleteMany thanks
