Thanks to delmonico and cornelius for this welcome RS.
ReplyDeleteSound is not too bad considering the age of this scarce lp.
Very pleased to hear this Ronnie Scott LP rip. Appreciated. Thank you delmonico and cornelius.
ReplyDeleteI agree with bluebird. In addition, we have to appreciate the recording conditions and equipment of the period: if this really did come from the dear old Paris Cinema, home of many a later BBC live broadcast (usually rock), then the sound is more than acceptable, at least on a par or even better than most contemporary American airshots. Thank you for helping to keep Ronnie's name alive as an inspiring musician and bandleader.
ReplyDeleteI’ve been wandering around BritJazz in a daze for the last week, just stunned at the extraordinary range of amazing music that you’ve made available (and records of near-legendary rarity – I’m a sucker for a lovely old EP or 10” LP sleeve!). I’ve helped myself to Buddy Featherstonehaugh, Tony Klein, Ronnie Scott, Don Rendell and Vic Ash and more. I’m never too old to learn, and the riches you offer on this incredible blog, with discographical data and other info to put it all in context, are an education in themselves, not to mention hours of wonderful listening. Many, many thanks to all involved.
ReplyDeleteAnd what a treat that this one is from the BBC Paris Studios in Lower Regent St, home of so many great broadcasts, including The Goon Show, I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue and many more. Lovely stuff.
Thanks for your comments, tyler - your philosophy seems to coincide with ours very well. Compared to many blogs our output is modest (not up to 120 yet, and some of those small items) but then we are restricted to quite a narrow spectrum.
ReplyDeleteHearing this, I could almost be transported back to the fifties, huddled round the fire, listening to one of those lovely old radios. Wonderful stuff! Thank you BritJazz.
