0521 Collin Bates [Brew] FLAC 9(41.59)

Contributed by bluebird, who writes:-
There were two pianists with very similar names working in the UK during the same period..
There is Colin 'Barney' Bates and there was this musician called Collin 'Tucker' Bates who was actually Australian.  Both worked almost exclusively in the Mainstream/Traditional fields but this, being in the modern style, is quite a departure in what is Collin Bates' only recording as leader. I don't think there has been a cd re-issue unless it was in Japan.
Collin Bates died in Australia in 1991 aged 60.
His rhythm section partners are not particularly well known but they have obviously worked together as a group and they present a varied and interesting programme of standards and original music. The recording date is indicated only as c.1968.
The music was ripped from the Japanese re-issue lp whilst the cover scans are from the original UK lp issue. I have both lps and thought that the Japanese sound would be better and require less, if any, restoration work.
