And Tony looks so dapper. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Brufan and Britjazz. A gem.
ReplyDeleteWonderful, thanks Brufan & BritJazz. I'm always fascinated to hear Harriott in his pre 'Abstract' days.
ReplyDeleteKinsey/Harriott...a big thanks and a big welcome Brufan.
ReplyDeleteHarriott has a beautiful tone, and is such a brilliant improviser, and I also love the way everybody gets their say in these recordings. LeSage’s contributions are very impressive (especially on ‘Don’t Mean A Thing’), Stokes’s bass as solid as a rock and Kinsey’s drum solos give the whole thing a distinctive kick. Many thanks for this fine posting.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful example of Harriott and Kinsey's work. Many thanks, Brufan.
ReplyDeleteI obviosly don't call into your site as often as i should "the song is you" is as far as i have got and i cant stop listening to it Le Sage a long time stalwart plays a gorgeius solo and JH,( rest his soul) plays gloriously - I have never heard his 50's work so this is a massive revelation to me- jazz this good needs the master tapes and a cd issue..
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, guys
Graham C
Thanks!
ReplyDeleteSo many musicians I do know only a bit or not at all. Is there any recommendations I could get?
ReplyDeleteAnd while writing I see the name Basil Kirchin on the sidebar.
